When we train sales people, we ask them to focus on the next step, not every step. The next step must be taken before all the other steps are necessary. A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.
When we coach executives, we ask them to focus on their priorities, not everything. If the most important is not attended to, that other stuff is just commentary. You can do anything, but not everything.
Make sure you understand the logical sequence to accomplish your goals. Take the next step, first. Work the important, now. Keep asking, “What should I do next?” Then take that next step.
